Independent Director and Chairman, Shell Foundation
Malcolm Brinded has had a distinguished 37 year career with Royal Dutch Shell plc, a global oil and gas company, where he has worked in the United Kingdom, Brunei, the Netherlands and Oman. He has served on the Royal Dutch Shell plc’s board of directors between 2002 and 2012 and has been a member of the Network Rail Board in the U.K. as a Non-Executive Director since 2010.
Between 2009 and 2012, Malcolm has been Royal Dutch Shell’s Executive Director of the Upstream International business. Between 2004 and 2009, he served as Executive Director in charge of Shell’s Exploration and Production business unit and prior to that, he was a Managing Director responsible for Gas and Power, and IT. Between 1999 and 2002, Malcolm was the Shell Country Chairman in the United Kingdom, as well as the Managing Director of Shell U.K. Exploration and Production business. Since 2009, he has served as the Chairman of the Shell Foundation.
Malcolm graduated from Cambridge University with a degree in engineering. He is a Fellow of the U.K. Institutions of Civil and Mechanical Engineers and the U.K. Royal Academy of Engineering. In 2002, he was awarded the CBE for services to the U.K. Oil and Gas Industry.
