Designing laboratories and cleanroom areas for the new, 34,000 SM building, we helped provide a new home to the Department of Physics, including advanced research facilities such as cleanrooms, cryostat halls, microscopy suites and laser and optical laboratories, as well as a multitude of support areas in conjunction with the Jestico + Whiles architectural team.

This 200,000-square-foot, vertically integrated corporate headquarters houses a wide range of research and testing labs, manufacturing space, offices for research, design, engineering and administrative functions and extensive employee amenity spaces. The high-performance design is intended to serve the client for 100 years. As a business tool, the CEO claimed it helped cut new product time-to-market in half through the social logic of its design and the enhanced quality of the workspaces.

CH2M’s design of a new 330,000-square-foot research facility for advanced semiconductor and nanotechnology research and development is the first in the world to house extreme ultra-violet equipment and was finished in less than 20 months from the start of programming to first tenant occupancy. The award-winning design became the new flagship of SUNY Polytechnic, took advantage of a constrained site and overcame ambient site vibration challenges through innovative structural design.

The vertical organization of the facility provides enhanced safety, efficiency and functionality, and features extensive transparency to ‘put science on display’.
