“The Clinton Global Initiative is known for collaboration that leads to action. We are excited to be joining the dialogue with thought leaders and public servants so that we can identify opportunities to capitalize on the innovative spirit and intellectual capital of American business, academia, and philanthropy to advance the solutions to the challenges facing our cities, our infrastructure, and our future talent pipeline,” says CEO Jacqueline Hinman.

On Wednesday, June 25 CEO Jacqueline Hinman will participate in a Breakout Session hosted by Bloomberg TV, “A New Competitive Era: America in the World.” The event will be live streamed beginning at 8 a.m. MT.

The CH2M HILL Foundation is proud to announce a $100,000 grant to DSST (Denver School of Science and Technology) Public Schools to establish the Higher Education Partnerships for STEM Workforce Development as part of its CGI Commitment to Action. DSST seeks to build a comprehensive pathway for Denver secondary students pursuing STEM careers through open enrollment public charter schools in Denver. At full enrollment, DSST will serve over 6,500 students (approximately 18% of the Denver Public Schools (DPS) secondary school population) in 14 schools on seven campuses and will nearly double the number of four-year college-ready DPS graduates by 2023. This new program will bolster support for the 60% of DSST seniors who intend to major in STEM. The ultimate goal of this program is to infuse a diverse group of 250 new STEM professionals into the workforce by 2020, many of whom will remain in Colorado as a pipeline of talent for CH2M HILL and other employers reliant on STEM-capable employees.

“I am very grateful for the generous support and visionary leadership CH2M HILL has provided DSST Public Schools in the critical area of increasing the K-12 pipeline of future STEM employees. The company’s support has enabled DSST to rapidly scale to 9 schools in Denver and build a whole new generation of engineers, scientists, programmers and health professionals,” said Bill Kurtz, Chief Executive Officer for DSST Public Schools.

In addition, CH2M HILL will share its expertise through participation in two working groups.

Bob Bailey, director of competitive cities will participate in the Infrastructure for Cities and States Working Group, which will build on CGI’s ongoing efforts with leading American cities to move the needle on infrastructure financing. The group will convene senior city and state officials and private sector leaders from finance, infrastructure development, and organized labor to advance cross-sector partnerships and solutions to a range of barriers impeding U.S. infrastructure modernization.

Elisa Speranza, CH2M HILL Chief Communications Officer and Ellen Sandberg, CH2M HILL Vice President of Community Investment will join the STEM Education Working Group, focused on a dialogue regarding skilled mentoring, STEM teaching, and after-school STEM learning.
