Engineering solutions for a higher quality of life, in Singapore and beyond

Singapore continues to set an outstanding example in taking a holistic approach to water resource management, and the second annual Singapore International Water Week provides a platform for sharing innovative solutions.

This year, CH2M HILL will highlight its ongoing contributions to quality of life in Singapore and beyond through innovative engineering solutions at the Water Expo 2009. A focal point will be their ongoing partnership with PUB Singapore on PUB's Active, Beautiful, Clean Waters (ABC Waters) programme. This landmark programme is transforming Singapore's water bodies into vibrant and sustainable features, creating new community spaces and a higher quality of living. CH2M HILL's decade-long partnership with PUB has yielded a number of significant accomplishments, including the implementation of the NEWater reuse programme, the compact and covered Changi Water Reclamation Plant, and the Deep Tunnel Sewerage System. Their ongoing work on the NEWater Infrastructure Programme includes managing a program to lay 85 km of 2.2 m diameter pipe. In addition, CH2M HILL recently completed the world's first full-scale desalination plant to use large-diameter seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO) technology, for Power Seraya Ltd.

"All these projects have dramatically changed the management of water infrastructure in Singapore, and we look forward to continuing to play a major role in infrastructure improvements here," says Mr John Quarendon, Managing Director for CH2M HILL's ASEAN / India region.
