CH2M HILL Named to Top 50 “Best Companies to Work For in Australia”

30 April, 2009 – CH2M HILL, a global full-service engineering, procurement, construction, and operations firm, has been named one of the Top 50 “Best Companies to Work For in Australia” by the Great Place to Work® Institute, Inc.

The Great Place to Work® Institute, Inc. is a research and management consultancy based in the U.S. with International Affiliate offices through the World. The Great Place to Work® Institute Australia was launched in 2007 and is the Australian affiliate of the U.S. based Great Place to Work® Institute.

The Great Place to Work® survey was based on the major findings of more than 20 years of research – and agree that trust between managers and employees is the primary defining characteristic of the best workplaces. The employee-centered model has been recognized for more than 20 years as a clear, comprehensive representation of the importance of trust in creating great workplace relationships.

This year they are working with a respected Media Partner, the Business Review Weekly BRW Magazine, and conducted a detailed study of workplace culture across a wide range of Australian organisations. These results were shared with all participating organisations, and they identified and honoured the “Best Companies to Work For in Australia” in the BRW Magazine 30th April 2009 edition. CH2M HILL Australia achieved the status of being one of the top 50 companies.

The winners were selected through a process of (1) employees' responses to the Great Place to Work™ Trust Index™ survey, and (2) the completion of the Great Place to Work™ Culture Audit©, a two part management questionnaire. The inclusion of things such as “The Little Yellow Book”, and CH2M HILL Vision, Mission and Company Values, corporate responsibility, safety culture, ownership culture and global leader culture, recognition and reward programs, flexible work policies, and progressively reduced turnover rates over the past few years have all helped us obtain this recognition.

In January 2009 CH2M HILL became the first engineering and construction firm to win the Catalyst Award, which annually honors innovative organizational approaches with proven, measurable results that address the recruitment, development, and advancement of all women, including women of color.
