CH2M HILL bases our defensible site selection services on sound environmental, engineering, and cost criteria. We can help you identify candidate sites and furnish the screening services and resource evaluations for your power plant projects. We understand the importance of starting with the proper site based on rail, water, and transmission access. Environmental and land use issues–such as distance to Class I areas, the presence of sensitive ecological areas, and local residential and commercial development–are all key factors that must be considered in a successful site selection study.

We have conducted numerous feasibility studies for power plant projects that have evaluated environmental and regulatory requirements; availability of rail, transmission, and water for condenser cooling; and the overall cost of development. Our team of economists, environmental scientists, and power plant engineers take an integrated approach that results in reliable, cost-effective feasibility studies based on recent experience and up-to-date technology.

Environmental Management

CH2M HILL can help you manage all aspects of site, ecological, and natural resource stewardship, including planning, assessment and investigation, cleanup, monitoring, operations and maintenance, and total utility management. We craft strategies for you that integrate regulatory, technical, financial, project delivery, and risk management solutions.

We help our clients reduce liabilities through eliminating hazardous, toxic, and radiological contaminants and closing client sites. We integrate the complex multitude of activities needed to decontaminate, decommission, and demolish sites with a long history of chemical contamination.

CH2M HILL also provides integrated water management services that span the full envelope of an industrial facility from water resources management and planning, engineering, and construction through full operations. Our knowledge of manufacturing and production processes; the intricacies of water, wastewater, and stormwater management and treatment; and the complexity of operating and maintaining treatment facilities are unique among our engineering and construction competitors.

Brownfield Redevelopment

CH2M HILL provides services to increase your asset's value while minimizing liabilities. Many of our clients own environmentally distressed properties with remediation liabilities and resultant depressed asset values. Other clients seek to buy properties for commercial redevelopment and utilization. We provide services to both groups.

For property owners and sellers—CH2M HILL assists in positioning clients' properties for sale or transfer with or without remediation liabilities. We can also assist in the selling of property as-is. Clients' corporate asset value can often be increased by the sale of a property if the value, as properly marketed for optimum land use, exceeds the cost of eliminating the remediation liability. The sale or transfer of the property and the elimination of the remediation corporate liability improves the corporate balance sheet.

For property buyers and redevelopers—CH2M HILL assists in matching sellers to buyers. We then assist the buyer in developing the property, including elimination of the remediation liability. CH2M HILL's involvement assures the buyer and seller that the remediation will be done in a high quality manner, consistent with development plans, and that the liability will not return to the seller.
