One of the key factors in determining project success is that the project supply chain for equipment and materials is managed well. This begins with active participation early in a project's development to ensure that all purchases on a project are well thought out and planned in advance to support the project construction effort. At the same time significant pricing advantage can be realized by sourcing competitive markets worldwide that offer the right quality and lead time to the project. This early participation and planning by experienced purchasing professionals secures as many of these advantages as possible for our projects. Our Purchasing professionals are responsible for all dealings with suppliers, beginning with obtaining and analyzing the qualifications of suppliers, continuing through the solicitation of bids, evaluation of quotations, negotiation and finalization of purchase orders, and the administration of issues arising during the fulfillment of the requirements.
On-time data submittal and, material and equipment deliveries are vital components to the success of each project. At CH2M HILL we have dedicated Procurement professionals who focus on these issues. During the procurement planning stage, a detailed Expediting Plan is developed to identify those material and equipment packages which will require proactive expediting. Once a purchase order is issued and the required level of expediting has been established, our Expeditors will pursue suppliers to ensure that all equipment is received in a timely manner and all obligations of the purchase agreement are met.
Quality of the equipment and materials projects purchase is a key factor in the success of each project. CH2M HILL understands these needs and has a Global Network of Source Inspection resources to support purchasing on a worldwide basis.
