Water For People

Water For People (WFP) helps the most impoverished people in the world improve the quality of their lives by supporting locally sustainable drinking water, sanitation, and health and hygiene projects.

CH2M HILL has supported Water For People since its founding in 1991. Their mission echoes CH2M HILL's commitment to building a better world. The firm's involvement dates back to Ken Miller, former CH2M HILL senior vice president, who helped start the organization in 1991. Today, many employees participate in their local WFP chapters, and several CH2M HILL employees serve on the board of directors. CH2M HILL has hosted a global online giving campaign benefiting WFP since 2003, raising more than $450,000 to date. In addition to hosting an annual Water For People workplace giving campaign, CH2M HILL supports a variety of public awareness and fundraising events throughout the year.

WFP has used water as a starting point in helping the world's poor take their first steps out of poverty and into a future of hope. WFP initiates processes that foster pride, self-confidence, and hope in bringing people together to build their own water and sanitation systems. Clean water, adequate sanitation, and proper hygiene practices create positive conditions for people to achieve other goals, make decisions that benefit the whole community, and devise innovative solutions for long-term sustainable development.
